BİLGİ Center for Child Studies, abbreviated as BİLGİ ÇOÇA, was established on November 20, 2007. Initially operating under the BİLGİ Center for Civil Society Studies, it transformed into an practice and research center in 2026. It strives to contribute to a world where all children’s voices are heard, their opinions are considered, they have a say in decisions, and their rights are protected.
The Center’s objectives are;
- To conduct research in the field of child studies, publish them in Turkish and/or foreign languages, and carry out projects,
- To organize various national and international conferences, symposium, seminars and workshops to develop theoretical and methodological knowledge and research capacity in this field,
- To function as a national focal point to ensure institutional coordination in the work of researchers,
- To provide opportunities for researchers who wish to conduct research activities within BİLGİ ÇOÇA and undergraduate and graduate students who wish to gain knowledge and experience in the fields of activity, to contribute and to participate in the studies they conduct,
- To provide research/consultancy services and to conduct practical studies on child rights and child well-being at national and international levels,
- To cooperate with national and international public institutions or private sector organizations operating in the field of child studies, and to organize the coorporated studies and training programs,
- To become a member of national and international associations and networks established in the field of child studies or to contribute to the formation of similar networks.
- Enabling sustainable interdisciplinary cooperation concerning children’s rights within and outside the university.
